Can't get her out of your head? Well, neither can we! In fact we've just learnt that Australian songstress Kylie Minogue will be wearing a short champagne dress designed by our very own Manish Malhotra.

Says Manish, “Farah (Khan) is choreographing a song for Blue with Kylie. Farah loves my work, so she suggested my name and the director Tony and his wife liked my work. So I was on.” Manish further explains the garment to us, “It is a champagne coloured lace dress with silver and metallic shades to it. When Kylie saw the outfit, she simply loved it.” The designer says that Kylie had just had one suggestion to make for the outfit. “She said, 'I love tassels; could you please add some?' And of course I complied. Kylie is extremely sweet. She had seen my clothes in Om Shanti Om and was impressed.”

Manish goes on to add, “I have been so busy…I just returned from LA as I was doing costumes for My Name is Khan, then I did a show at FICCI and now I am working on a shoot for my brochure. Every day it's something new; one day I am at a movie set, next day I am working on a collection. I am so pressed for time. Because there is no one to assist me, I do everything myself.”

Having been responsible for the successful merger of fashion and Bollywood, today does he feel that there's a clutter of designers working for Bollywood stars? Manish is optimistic, “I am very happy and proud of them. I think I have worked with a lot of stars. In fact this year I have designed for Aishwarya Rai, Rajnikant, Genelia D'Souza, Prachi Desai, Preity Zinta…”

Manish's trademark has always been chiffon saris — does he feel that his trademark has worked well? “Internationally, designers be it Armani or Versace, have a signature style and they stick to it. Like that, mine is chiffon saris,” he ends, matter of factly.
