Mamata Banerjee to hold party protest on Jantar Mantar next MondayTrinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, who recently broke ranks with the ruling UPA government and joined opposition, has announced that she will lead a party demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi next Monday to protest government decision to allow FDI in retail and reform fuel subsidies.

Interestingly, she took to social networking site, Facebook to communicate with supports and invited them to protest at the site, which is often used by Anna Hazare and his team for holding fasts and holding protests.

"Let us fight the battle boldly and unitedly. In a democracy, the people are supreme. Our voice is the voice of the people. We must raise our voices, so that the government will reconsider. We all will be present to highlight these issues and request the central government to withdraw the anti-people decisions," Banerjee said in a post on Facebook.

She also expressed gratittue to her supports for their support in what she described as the fight against "unethical decisions" of the government on various reforms such as diesel prices, LPG cylinders, fertilizer prices and FDI in retail.

She appealed to Facebook users to spread the word and invite friends and other supporters to gather at the site on October 1 to urge the Centre to withdraw "anti-people" decisions.
