Maoists blow up rail track in Bihar

Patna, June 2 : Maoist rebels today blew up a railway track in Bihar’s Jamui District during a 24-hour shutdown call in five east Bihar districts to protest the recent arrest of five cadres.

Traffic on the Patna-Howrah line was disrupted when Naxalites blasted the up track between Narganjo and Ghorparan stations, said Superintendent of Railway Police, Jamalpur, Vimal Kumar.

According to sources, several trains, including the Howrah-Delhi Janata Express, the Howrah-Danapur Express, the Tata-Gorakhpur Express, the Tata-Danapur Express and the Amritsar-Danapur Express were stranded at various stations.

The Maoists also blew up a portion of the office of Kharagpur Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO).

No casualty was reported at the time of the incident.

The Naxalites also took away several sacks of foodgrain from an adjoining Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown in Munger District. (ANI)
