MDH to foray into ready-to-eat food segment

MDH to foray into ready-to-eat food segmentThe Rs 300-crore masala maker MDH has decided to foray into the ready-to-eat food segment by offering continental cuisine such as noodles, pasta and vermicelli off its shelf.

The company officials believe that market potential of the proposed business is huge by considering changing food habits of the general public such as emergence of a greater number of nuclear families and reduced time available for cooking.

The company intends to spend Rs 50 crore on the latest business. However, in the event of further funds requirement, MDH could explore options such as a private equity infusion, bank finance and even an IPO.

Delhi-based MDH has 5 plants spread across Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan and a total grinding capacity of 30 tonnes per day of spices. The company sells its products across India and exports them to 47 countries.
