Missing California woman found alive in Merced

Nancy SalasAccording to the reports, a young California woman was found alive and well on Thursday in Merced, several hundred miles north of the Los Angeles area where she was reported missing.

The Los Angeles Times has reported that Nancy Salas's apparent disappearance Wednesday set off a massive search. Relatives and friends helped comb the hills around Glendale, while police used helicopters and dogs.

It was further reported that what happened to her was unclear. While her family apparently believed Salas was a student at the University of California at Los Angeles, police and UCLA officials say she dropped out almost two years ago.

Sgt. Tom Lorenz of the Glendale Police Department said, "She may have been leading a double life and it was starting to catch up with her. The family was going to have a graduation party where she would have to show off her diploma."

Salas's father called police Wednesday after his daughter failed to return from an early morning run. (With Inputs from Agencies)
