Modi asks PM to provide details on Sonia’s international tripsGujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has hit back at the central government asking the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to provide details about the expenditure on UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's foreign trips.

The congress party is demanding an apology from the Mr. Modi for his earlier comments that Rs 1880 crore was spent from the public money for funding foreign trips of Mrs. Gandhi. However, Mr. Modi remained defiant and asked Congress to provide details to prove him wrong before it demands as apology.

He criticized the ruling party for not providing the information on foreign trips despite a pending petition under the Right to Information Act. He said that the people of the country have the right to know where the government is spending public money.

"Congress leaders pat themselves on their backs for having brought in the RTI Act to empower the common citizen but the government itself is not providing details under the same. Law says that the information should be given in three months but it has been more than 2.5 years now, why is that the information is not being provided?" Modi said.

He also quoted that media reports indicated that Rs 1880 crore was spent on Mrs. Gandhi's treatment and asked the party to provide information on expenditure on her foreign travels from 2004 to 2012.
