The 50-year-old woman became the first to die from the deadly H1N1 virus on Wednesday in Mohali.

According to the reports, Prem Lata, a resident of Sector 68, had been admitted at to Indus Hospital around a couple of days ago.

But when her health condition deteriorated, she was taken to GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh.

Dr. S. P. Surila, District Health Officer, stated that the intensive care unit of the Indus Hospital has been sealed off for 3 days, and would be made operational only after proper sterilization was done.

Around 30 people, comprising the woman's relatives and medical team who had come in contact with her, have been kept under observation.

Dr. Surila added that Gaurav (9), a resident of Phase III A, has tested positive for the H1N1 infection on Wednesday, while another swine flu case is a 7-year-old girl from Zirakpur.
