More than 30 hurt in Northwest plane during turbulence

Tokyo  - Three Filipino passengers were seriously injured and more than 30 others suffered minor injuries Friday in turbulence encountered by a Northwest Airlines flight headed to Japan, media reports said.

The Boeing 747-400 from Manila was heading to Narita Airport, east of Tokyo, when it was hit by turbulence while waiting for permission to land.

The plane was carrying 408 passengers and 14 crew members when it suddenly sank and rose again about half an hour before landing, a passenger said. (dpa)
