Nandita Das' first Pakistani film premieres at Osian's

One it was a time when Pakistani actors and musicians were very much interested to appear in Indian films and music albums. Now, the trend is reversing itself as a number of Indian artists are giving their roles in Pakistani films and music albums. This is indicated by the Pakistani film ''Khuda Ke Liye' where an Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah played his role.

Now, noted actress Nandita Das has all set to appear in a Pakistani film. Nandita Das will be seen in a Pakistani film 'Ramchand Pakistani'. The film is based on accidental crossing of international border by a small Hindu boy during a time of war-like tension on border. The film was premiered at the ten edition of the Osians' Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab cinema. 'Ramchand Pakistani' is produced by Pakistan-based Project One and JJ Media and Namak Films. It is directed by Pakistani filmmaker Mehreen Jabbar.

Nandita Das played a role of Champa who is a village woman. Champa has witnessed different tormenting situations when her husband and small boy were detained by Indian authorities. This was the time when both countries were facing war like situations due to recent attack on Indian parliament.

The film is a human interest story with a universal message of brotherhood. The film has depicted the story of a dalit Hindu family which is dominated by a Muslim society in Pakistan. The film is hailed worldwide due to its humanist approach and non sectarian values.
