Naveen Patnaik visits train mishap site

Naveen Patnaik invites Tata to set up Nano project in OrissaJajpur, Feb 14, : Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday visited the site of the Jajpur railway station where Howrah-Chennai Coromandel Express derailed yesterday.

According to reports, 15 people were killed and another 100 injured after the derailment of the train.

More than 1,500 people were aboard the train at the time of derailment.

Naveen Patnaik along with railway officials took a stock of the situation and assured that the State authorities would offer all possible help to the victims.

"I know the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has announced compensation for the family of the deceased and also for those who are injured. State Government would also do whatever is possible for the people in this terrible accident," Patnaik said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Orissa Police confirmed that more than 100 people were hurt and they had been taken to hospital for treatment.

The Ministry of Railways has already ordered for a high-enquiry to probe the derailment of the Coromandel Express. (ANI)
