British retrial sales rise 3.9% in July

British retrial sales rise 3.9% in JulyAccording to the latest figures released, the total retail sales in the UK have risen by an impressive 3.9 per cent during the month of July compared to the same month of the previous year.

The growth of 3.9 per cent is almost double the growth recorded in the July of 2012 and is the largest gain since 2006, according to the data released by the British Retail Consortium. The total Like-for-like sales in the country recorded a growth of 2.2 per cent in July, which is its highest since February this year.

The retail sales growth was mainly due to summer season, sporting triumphs and the arrival of a baby in the Royal family as customers got a reason to spend more money in shopping. Experts said that sales of food and drink increased as customers held barbecues to celebrate the royal family's newest arrival, Murray's Wimbledon triumph and favourable summer.

The total online sales in the country rose 7.9 per cent, which is a slow improvement for the fast growing sector, as the weather encouraged customers to go out and purchase items at stores in the UK this July.
