Sammy Griner became quite popular on internet as the Success Kid meme when he was just 11 months old. But now, he all grown up and needs the help of internet to raise funds for his father's surgery.

Sammy is now eight years old and is using his internet fame to help raise money for surgery, treatment and also to look out for a suitable donor. Sammy's father, Justin Griner, 39, has to under dialysis for his kidney on every day basis.

He spends four hours a day, three days a week for this procedure. Justin's kidneys have been failing before Sammy was born. Medicare will cover 80% of the post-surgery costs. The GoFundMe page will help in finding Sammy a donor and raise funds needed for his care.

Six days ago, the page was started and since then, the family has been able to raise $48,665 and the target is $75,000. Till date, 2,224 different people have donated.

Talking about how Sam became popular over internet. His mother Laney posted Sam's picture holding a fistful of sand on her Flickr page in 2007. She realized after some years that the photo has been gaining popularity.

By 2010, Success Kid had become quite popular. Now, the family is expecting that Sam's popularity could help raise the remaining funds to save Justin from the same fate as his mother, who died from kidney disease.
