Washington  - Monsanto Co, the world's biggest seed producer, Wednesday reported a 42-per-cent boost in its third quarter profits compared to last year, buoyed by soaring grain prices and more investment by farmers in weed killer and engineered seeds.

Net income was 811 million dollars. Sales were up 26 per cent to 3.59 billion dollars. (dpa)
