Orissa Govt. presents Rs. 7857 crore supplementary budget

OrissaOrissa Finance Minister Prafulla Ghadei on Wednesday presented the supplementary budget of Rs 7587.69 crore for financial year 2008-09 in the Assembly amidst protests from BJP legislators.

The State Government will spend Rs 188.89 crore under plan, Rs 5388.93 crore under state non-plan, Rs 98.78 crore under Central plan and Rs 211.11 crore under centrally sponsored schemes.

'This is the highest supplementary budget since independence,' Ghadei added.

As per the Fitment Committee recommendations, Rs 2,255 crore budgetary allocations have also been made for facilitating the implementation of the sixth pay commission report. This has got the major share from the additional budget. Orissa Govt. has elevated the pension of freedom fighters from 800 to Rs. 1000 per month.

The govt. has reduced the interest rate from 7 to 5 percentages in co-operative agricultural loan sector.
