Pammie joins anti-seal hunt campaign

Pammie joins anti-seal hunt campaignLondon, Oct 24 : Former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson has joined several celebrities taking part in an ad campaign by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to save seals from the annual hunt on Canada''s East Coast.

The Canadian-born actress and animal rights activist visited the Ontario provincial legislature to introduce the new ads, which will also feature singers Sarah McLachlan and Kelly Osborne and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, reports the Daily Express.

While speaking to TV show Canada AM, Anderson said that she was upset about the seal hunt, describing it as "barbaric and cruel" and "an embarrassment" to her native country.

The indigenous Inuit community insists the seal hunt provides crucial jobs and food for villagers in isolated northern communities in Canada.

Canada''s East Coast seal hunt is the largest in the world, killing an average of 300,000 harp seals annually. (ANI)
