Stern was seeking 60 million dollars in damages against the Hachette Book Group and TV reporter-turned-writer Rita Cosby.

Smith was found unconscious in her room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino near Hollywood, Florida, in February 2007.
A post-mortem report said she died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs including anti-depressants.

Gina Shelley told investigators that she saw Anna’s boyfriend Howard Stern “pouring them in her mouth like you would a bird”.
Stern and two doctors were ordered to face prosecution on charges of supplying the 39-year-old with drugs.
After a three-week preliminary hearing, a judge in Los Angeles ruled there was enough evidence to require Stern, 40, Khristine Eroshevich, 61, and Sandeep Kapoor, 41, to stand trial accused of channelling drugs to an addict, reports the Daily Express.

The unidentified pharmacist has reportedly told officials probing the former model''s 2007 death that he was so concerned at the amount of medications the star was taking that he eventually refused to fill her prescriptions.
He even began fearing for Smith''s life, saying: "They are going to kill her with this,” reports Contactmusic.

Khristine Eroshevich surrendered to police for excessively prescribing drugs to Smith, which led to her 2007 fatal overdose death, according to media reports.

According to Contactmusic, celebrated composer Mark-Anthony Turnage has been given the task to adapt her life into an opera.

Britain''s Royal Opera has confirmed plans for a lavish show based on the American who married an elderly oil billionaire.
Mark-Anthony Turnage is writing the story, to be staged in London's Covent Garden in 2011, while Richard Thomas will provide the libretto.
Royal Opera House spokeswoman said that the work was in its early stages.
