Allegations against Howard Stern politically motivated, says attorney

Washington, April 8 : An attorney representing Anna Nicole Smith''s boyfriend Howard K. Stern has said that the allegation that he was the late Playboy bunny's "principal enabler" in acquiring the toxic prescription drugs that claimed her life two years ago are politically motivated.

Attorney Steve Sadow told reporters that State Attorney General Jerry Brown''s allegations were a "blatant attempt to advance his own political career."

"He is innocent of the baseless allegations made against him in the criminal complaint. Both Anna and Howard believed in their doctors and relied in good faith on their medical judgment," People magazine quoted Sadow as saying.

Officials re-examine Anna Nicole Smith''s death

London, Mar 26 : Prosecutors in Florida are taking a new look at the 2007 death of Anna Nicole Smith.

It has emerged that Broward County prosecutors recently met with authorities in Los Angeles and the California Department of Justice.

The move follows the indictment March 13 in California of Smith''s former boyfriend Howard K. Stern and two doctors in connection with her death, reports Sky News.

Smith was found unconscious in her room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino near Hollywood, Florida, in February 2007.

Medics tried to revive her but failed.

A post-mortem found she died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs including anti-depressants.

New York, Mar 17 : Ex-Playboy centerfold Anna Nicole Smith's psychiatrist, who is charged with conspiracy for allegedly funneling drugs to the actress, has turned herself in at the Los Angeles Police Department''s Van Nuys station.

Khristine Eroshevich surrendered to police for excessively prescribing drugs to Smith, which led to her 2007 fatal overdose death, according to media reports.

Eroshevich, who was Smith''s next-door neighbor, faces six felony counts. Bail was set at 20,000 dollars, reports The New York Daily News.

As per prosecutors, Eroshevich, Smith''s boyfriend Howard K. Stern, 40, and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, 40, gave Smith thousands of pills in the years before her overdose death.

Anna Nicole Smith's beau, lawyer charged with giving her drugs

Washington, Mar 13: Anna Nicole Smith''s boyfriend, attorney and two doctors were charged Thursday with conspiring to give her prescription drugs before she died in 2007, the Los Angeles District Attorney''s office said in a press release.

Howard K. Stern, the boyfriend, and doctors Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich were charged with conspiracy for giving controlled substances to Smith from June 5, 2004 to Jan. 26, 2006, reports Fox News.

Also, Stern was once involved in a custody battle over Smith''s daughter, Dannielynn.

Arraignment dates for the defendants have not yet been scheduled.

Britain''s Royal Opera has confirmed plans for a lavish show based on the American who married an elderly oil billionaire.

Mark-Anthony Turnage is writing the story, to be staged in London's Covent Garden in 2011, while Richard Thomas will provide the libretto.

Royal Opera House spokeswoman said that the work was in its early stages.

"It is not going to be tawdry, it is going to be witty, clever, thoughtful and sad," the Sun quoted director of opera Elaine Padmore, as saying.
