Buddhadeb expresses confidence of ‘Third Front’ forming government

West Bengal Chief Minister and Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPM) stalwart Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Raigunj (West Bengal), Apr 26 : West Bengal Chief Minister and Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPM) stalwart Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Sunday expressed confidence on Third Front forming a government at the Centre.

Bhattacharjee also said the Front would keep `communal forces' like Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at bay.

Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee escapes unhurt in accidentKolkata, March 19 : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee''s escaped unhurt in an accident on Thursday after the police pushed a person who drove his two-wheeler into Bhattacharjee''s convoy.

Bhattacharjee was heading towards the state secretariat from his 59A Palm Avenue residence in the southern part of Kolkata.

The person is being interrogated at the Park Street police station. His motorbike has also been seized.

The police has ruled out the possibility of an attack on the Chief Minister.

West Bengal CM shown black flags by Trinamool Congress women activists

Buddhadeb BhattacharjeeKolkota, Feb 22 : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee was on Sunday shown black flags by women activists of Bidhannagar Block Trinamool Congress when he was arriving at Salt Lake stadium here to lay the foundation stone of East-West Metro Railway.

The women activists started shouting "Go Back Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee" as soon as his convoy entered the stadium.

The activists alleged that the foundation laying programme was a mere gimmick to attract voters ahead of the parliamentary election.

West Bengal Soon To Have Country’s Second NSG HubNational Security Guard (NSG) Chief J.K. Dutt on Friday met with State Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee to discuss the plan for a proposed hub of the NSG in the state.

Later speaking on this with the media persons, Dutt said, “The NSG's eastern India hub will come up in West Bengal. We are looking for land and the state government is cooperating with us.”

However, the NSG Chief declined to give any other details of the meeting.

Bhattacharjee rules out Gorkha land

The West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has out rightly rejected the demand for a separate Gorkhaland state by the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM). 

”I do not want divisions within West Bengal and will try my best not allow anyone to divide the state,” he said.

Addressing the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) peasants wing, All India Kishan Sabha’s (AIKS) district conference in Darjeeling, the epicentre of the Gorkhaland state issue, Bhattacharjee termed poverty the root of terrorism and called for an united fight against it.

West Bengal CM condemns Mumbai terror strikes

Buddhadeb BhattacharyaKolkata, Nov. 28 : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today condemned the terror attacks in Mumbai.

He said it was a challenge for the people of the country to remain calm and resolute and to try to overcome the menace unitedly.

He also expressed a hope for a robust national response to terrorism and added that there was no doubt in his mind that foreign forces are behind this attacks.

He offered his condolences to the families of the victims of the attacks.
