Dharamsala, Sept 25: Dalai Lama makes first public appearance in Dharamsala after leaving hospitalTibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, made his first public appearance after leaving hospital, as he began a three-day spiritual teaching discourse in Dharamsala today.

Organised by the ''Tibetan Buddhist Center Singapore'', the three-day discourse of religious teachings are being attended by Buddhists in large numbers from across the world.

Buddhists believe that these teachings would help them attain enlightenment.

Dalai Lama calls special meeting to discuss TibetDharamsala, Sept 13 : The Dalai Lama has called a special meeting of Tibetan exiles in November or December to discuss political unrest in Tibet this year and the future of the Tibetan movement. 

Samdhong Rinpoche, Prime Minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile has sent a letter to direct the speaker to commence a special meeting of the Tibetan people representatives including the parliament members.

Tibetans in Shimla pray for Dalai Lama''s health

Dalai Lama Shimla, Sept 10 : Tibetan exiles in Shimla offered prayers for the long life of their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, today.

The monks said that September 10 is the 10th day of seventh month of the Tibetan calendar, an auspicious day for them.

"Today, we are offering special prayers for his holiness'' long life because his holiness is not in good health for the last few weeks," said Yonten a Tibetan Buddhist monk.

Similar prayer were held in Dharamshala, the seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile. Thousands of Bhuddhist monks and nuns prayed for the well being of Dalai Lama.

Betancourt, Dalai Lama, Tsvangirai nominated for EU Sakharov Prize

Dalai LamaBrussels  - Ingrid Betancourt, the Dalai Lama and Zimbabwe's opposition leader were among eight nominations Tuesday for the prestigious Sakharov Prize, a yearly award given by the European Parliament to defenders of democracy and human rights around the world.

Betancourt, a one-time Colombian presidential candidate with French citizenship who was released in July after being held hostage for six years by FARC rebels, was nominated by parliament's socialist grouping.

Dalai Lama discharged from hospital in India's Mumbai city

Dalai LamaNew Delhi - The Dalai Lama, Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, was Monday discharged from a hospital in India's western city of Mumbai, four days after he was admitted with "abdominal discomfort."

The 73-year-old Nobel peace laureate smiled and waved at crowds of his followers and onlookers as he left the Lilavati Hospital, his aides said.

"His Holiness left the hospital on Monday morning and is now resting at a hotel," senior aide Chimme R Chhoekyapa said by telephone from Mumbai.

"The Dalai Lama is in good health. Doctors said he has no physical problems but have advised him rest," he said.
