Islamabad, Dec 18 : Pakistan's cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan Wednesday appealed to the Pakistani Taliban to participate in the peace talks with the government, a media report said.
Khan, who is the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said there was a need for peace in the country and urged the Taliban to start the talks, Geo News reported.
He said restoration of peace in Pakistan was not possible until US drone attacks stopped.
The Pakistani Taliban has refused to talk to the government after a US drone attack killed their chief, Hakimullah Mehsud, in North Waziristan tribal region Nov 1.
Mumbai, Nov 22 : Actor Imran Khan has been awarded by animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India for stopping a trainer from hitting a canine on his film set.
Imran was reportedly shooting for "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" when he saw the dog trainer smack a dog. He immediately walked up to the trainer and pushed him in order to stop the abuse.
PETA has now sent Imran a Hero to Animals Award and a basket full of dog-shaped vegan gourmet chocolates prepared by Pune's Ambrosial Chockies as a mark of appreciation for his deed.
Mumbai, Nov 20 : Actress Kareena Kapoor has praised Imran Khan's performance in "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein", saying he has given his best in the romantic drama coming out Friday.
"Imran is a lot more fun,” said Kareena who has teamed up with him for the second time after “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu”.
“In this film ('Gori Tere Pyaar Mein'), he has definitely opened up a lot more as an actor. In the film, Imran has given his best performance. He has performed like a hero," she added.
Mumbai, Nov 7 : Actor Imran Khan says his next film "Bhavesh Joshi" with director Vikramaditya Motwane is set in the real world and that it has nothing to do with supernatural or sci-fi elements.
"It's not a superhero film. It has no sci-fi or supernatural elements," Imran told reporters Wednesday on the set of the seventh season of "Kaun Banega Crorepati".
"It is the story of a normal guy set in the real world. There are no fantasy elements in that film," added the actor who came to promote his ready-to-release movie "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" on the game show.

Mumbai, Aug 7: Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha have teamed up for the first time in "Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara" and their chemistry has appealed to the film's producer Ekta Kapoor so much that she has apparently decided to repeat them in her next movie.
Ekta is of the opinion that Imran-Sonakshi make a lovely pair, but nothing concrete has come to play yet.
When asked, Imran said: "I am also hearing the same. I don't know of any project as of now. But Ekta has been excited about our on-screen pairing and chemistry."
Mumbai, June 29 : Actor Imran Khan has worked with Milan Luthria in "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara" and says working with a big director is a huge benefit as he enhances your performance.
"This is the first time I am doing such a big, mainstream commercial film. I am working with such a big director for the first time and I found it to be a great benefit. The way they direct your performance and enhance it, it is such a great asset for an actor to have that support," the 30-year-old said here Friday while promoting the film at a radio station.
Islamabad, May 15 : Pakistani actress Meera, who has acted in two Indian movies, Wednesday visited cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan in hospital where he is admitted since being injured during an election rally.
The Lollywood actress inquired about the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief's health, Geo News reported.
Meera later told media persons that she had inquired about Khan's health, expressed her well wishes and congratulated him on his victory in the May 11 elections.
Islamabad, May 11 : Former Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif and cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan Saturday expressed satisfaction over the turnout in the peaceful general elections in the country.
In a message on a social network, Imran, also the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, said people voted "fearlessly" in Punjab, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
He said that despite threats from militants, the voter turnout in Sindh and Balochistan provinces were also satisfactory.
Sharif, chairman of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) said the peaceful election was a "good omen".
Mumbai, April 30 : Imran Khan, who cried after wathcing the climax of his uncle Aamir Khan's debut film "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak" (QSQT) at a special screening to mark 25 years of the hit movie, says it should not be remade.
"The film is still fresh and very enjoyable. To tell you the truth, I cried during the climax of the film. Yes, I was seeing it on the big screen for the first time and it was a lot of fun," the 30-year-old told reporters post screening.
Islamabad, April 20 : Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan will Sunday launch the election campaign of his Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) party, a media report said.
The general election is scheduled to be held May 11.
Imran will address rallies across the country and ask voters to cast their decision in favour of "change", the Dawn reported.
An official statement from the party said that though the campaign was to be launched April 16, an intra-party row over the distribution of poll tickets, and an attack at Imran Khan's home by the party's protesting workers resulted in the delay.
New Delhi, April 8 : Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma have replaced Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra to endorse coffee brand Bru. The "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola" co-stars admit they enjoyed each other's company while shooting for the new commercial for it.
Anushka says coffee keeps her energy levels high, while for Imran, coffee often becomes a reason to bond with his friends. For now, the two actors are happy that they got to share each other's company once again after "Matru...".
New Delhi, March 23 : It seems Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma's pairing in "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola" is working in their favour as they are said to have signed a joint deal to promote a coffee brand.
This is the same coffee brand that was earlier endorsed by "Kaminey" couple Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, said sources, who added that Imran and Anushka have been busy testing their coffee-making skills these days.

Mumbai, March 7 - Actor Imran Khan, who is shooting for "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" in Bangalore, says the city will always be special for him as that is where he spent some of his childhood years.
The 30-year-old studied at a boarding school in the city at a very young age. Being back in the city for a film makes him quite excited.
"I have spent a lot of my childhood in Bangalore and thus this city will always be very special to me," Imran said in a statement.
He has also been sharing his childhood memories with the crew.

Lahore, Jan 28 : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said that the current setup in Pakistan is not a real democracy but a "coalition of the corrupt".
Khan said that the current government has only "looted" the citizens in the name of democracy. Khan further said the leaders criticise the judiciary for harming democracy only when it investigates their corruption, reports The Express Tribune.
The PTI chief said democracy is the only way to prosper. Speaking about the dynastic politics in the country, Imran said all political parties should hold intra-party elections to bring real leaders to the top. (ANI)
Lahore, Jan 17 : The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) has rejected the invitation from Minhajul Quran International (MQI) chief, Dr Tahirul Qadri, to join his protest in Islamabad.
On Wednesday, Qadri, who along with tens of thousands of his supporters is staging a sit-in outside Parliament House, demanding an "electoral reform", had invited Imran Khan to join his dharna.
The PTI refused the invitation saying it "won''t become part of any undemocratic process", reports the Dawn. The decision was taken at a meeting of the political strategy committee of the party, chaired by Imran Khan.
New Delhi, Jan 10 : If Imran Khan was scared to work with Pankaj Kapur in "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola", he was also bowled over by the senior actor's focus and dedication. He says that despite playing a wide range of roles, the veteran treats each new project as his first movie.
"His (Pankaj) focus and dedication are remarkable to see. The way he sits and rehearses his lines and practices his scenes are very inspiring," Imran told IANS in an interview.
New Delhi, Jan 7 : Vishal Bhardwaj's forthcoming rustic drama "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola" has been cleared wuth a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The filmmaker is glad the movie will reach a wider audience.
"I've always wanted my films to reach out to a wider audience. Finally with 'Matru...', not restricted by the A rating, I'll be able to do so. I'd like to thank the CBFC for giving this rating as it's a bright and happy film," Bhardwaj said in a statement.
