Imran to kick-off poll campaign Sunday

Imran-KhanIslamabad, April 20 : Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan will Sunday launch the election campaign of his Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) party, a media report said.

The general election is scheduled to be held May 11.

Imran will address rallies across the country and ask voters to cast their decision in favour of "change", the Dawn reported.

An official statement from the party said that though the campaign was to be launched April 16, an intra-party row over the distribution of poll tickets, and an attack at Imran Khan's home by the party's protesting workers resulted in the delay.


Imran, Anushka bond over coffee

Imran-AnushkaNew Delhi, April 8 : Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma have replaced Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra to endorse coffee brand Bru. The "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola" co-stars admit they enjoyed each other's company while shooting for the new commercial for it.

Anushka says coffee keeps her energy levels high, while for Imran, coffee often becomes a reason to bond with his friends. For now, the two actors are happy that they got to share each other's company once again after "Matru...".

Imran-AnushkaNew Delhi, March 23 : It seems Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma's pairing in "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola" is working in their favour as they are said to have signed a joint deal to promote a coffee brand.

This is the same coffee brand that was earlier endorsed by "Kaminey" couple Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, said sources, who added that Imran and Anushka have been busy testing their coffee-making skills these days.

While shooting for the ad for the brand, their love for coffee has been quite apparent, and the duo are also said to be reading up about the different varieties of coffee. (IANS)

Imran Khan's Bangalore connectMumbai, March 7 - Actor Imran Khan, who is shooting for "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" in Bangalore, says the city will always be special for him as that is where he spent some of his childhood years.

The 30-year-old studied at a boarding school in the city at a very young age. Being back in the city for a film makes him quite excited.

"I have spent a lot of my childhood in Bangalore and thus this city will always be very special to me," Imran said in a statement.

He has also been sharing his childhood memories with the crew.

Imran-KhanLahore, Jan 28 : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said that the current setup in Pakistan is not a real democracy but a "coalition of the corrupt".

Khan said that the current government has only "looted" the citizens in the name of democracy. Khan further said the leaders criticise the judiciary for harming democracy only when it investigates their corruption, reports The Express Tribune.

The PTI chief said democracy is the only way to prosper. Speaking about the dynastic politics in the country, Imran said all political parties should hold intra-party elections to bring real leaders to the top. (ANI)


Imran Khan''s PTI rejects invitation to join ''Million March'' Qadri''s sit-in against govt.

s/Imran-Khan5Lahore, Jan 17 : The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) has rejected the invitation from Minhajul Quran International (MQI) chief, Dr Tahirul Qadri, to join his protest in Islamabad.

On Wednesday, Qadri, who along with tens of thousands of his supporters is staging a sit-in outside Parliament House, demanding an "electoral reform", had invited Imran Khan to join his dharna.

The PTI refused the invitation saying it "won''t become part of any undemocratic process", reports the Dawn. The decision was taken at a meeting of the political strategy committee of the party, chaired by Imran Khan.

imran-khanNew Delhi, Jan 10 : If Imran Khan was scared to work with Pankaj Kapur in "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola", he was also bowled over by the senior actor's focus and dedication. He says that despite playing a wide range of roles, the veteran treats each new project as his first movie.

"His (Pankaj) focus and dedication are remarkable to see. The way he sits and rehearses his lines and practices his scenes are very inspiring," Imran told IANS in an interview.

"I've always wanted my films to reach out to a wider audience. Finally with 'Matru...', not restricted by the A rating, I'll be able to do so. I'd like to thank the CBFC for giving this rating as it's a bright and happy film," Bhardwaj said in a statement.
