Rome - Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho Monday was fined 15,000 euros (21,900 dollars) and suspended for one game for insulting the referee during a Serie A game at the weekend.

The league of professional footballers (Lega Calcio) reported that a sports judge sentenced Mourinho for his angry reaction when referee Daniele Orsato didn't book a Cagliari defender who had harshly floored striker Mario Balotelli.

The Portuguese coach was dismissed Sunday in the second half of a game his side won 2-1 at Cagliari.

Hamburg  - When Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho, who has referred to himself as a Special One, substituted Ghanaian international Sulley Muntari after just 30 minutes of their game against Bari, he could never have imagined what storm the substitution would unleash.

However, it was probably no so much the substitution, but what Mourinho said afterwards, that set the wheels in motion.

The Portuguese coach reportedly said: "Muntari had some problems related to Ramadan, perhaps with this heat it's not good for him to be doing this fasting."

Rome  - A bad-tempered Jose Mourinho found himself with few supporters Friday in a diatribe against Marcello Lippi that heated up the week preceding the start of the Italian Serie A.

The coach of reigning champions Inter Milan reacted bitterly to Lippi's forecast that Juventus, the team he successfully coached before steering Italy to their fourth World Cup in 2006, were the favourites to clinch the title.

Rome - Coach Jose Mourinho has renewed his contract with Inter Milan to 2012, the Italian football champions said on their website late Monday.

The agreement quelled rumours that the Portuguese coach was considering a transfer to Spain powerhouse Real Madrid after a first successful season in Milan.

Inter said they extended the original contract expiring in 2011 "replying to the coach's will to continue with the project undertaken together a year ago, a will the club welcomed as a signal of attachment and winning spirit."

London, Mar. 30 : Inter-Milan boss Jose Mourinho has launched a thinly-veiled attack on England mid-fielder David Beckham, accusing him of going to America for money only.

Beckham became one of the highest paid players in football when he left Real Madrid to join LA Galaxy in July 2007.

But the former Manchester United star made little impression on the pitch and joined Italian giants AC Milan in January.

A sports judge fined the 46-year-old Portuguese 10,000 euros (13,000 dollars) "for openly criticizing the referee's officiating, stepping out of his designated area."

Mourinho had received a one-game ban for being sent off earlier this season.

Fiorentina were also fined 12,000 euros for their fans' racist chants during the late Sunday game at the Giuseppe Meazza. (dpa)

London, Mar. 10: Inter-Milan football team coach Jose Mourinho has rubbished claims that he is after Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson's job. Interviews at the weekend had quoted Mourinho saying he was ready to replace Fergie as United chief and would defeat him in the second leg.

But Mourinho said that he made no such comments.

Former Chelsea boss Mourinho's advisor Eladio Parames told SunSport last night: "Jose did not give an interview or speak with anyone about Alex Ferguson's job.

Mourinho heated up a dispute that began late Sunday after a controversial spot kick helped the Serie A leaders salvage a 3-3 home draw with Roma.

Rome - Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho said Tuesday he would rather one of his own players had won the Ballon d'Or which went to Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

"I'd have preferred that one of our players had won it," the Portuguese coach said when asked about the award going to fellow countryman Ronaldo.

Mourinho said Inter's Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a player who would have deserved the trophy awarded by French magazine France Football.
