Kamal Nath to attend WEF meeting in DavosNew Delhi, Jan 24: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath will attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting, in Davos, Switzerland from January 28 to February 1.

The five-day WEF meeting will be attended by over 2,500 participants from 96 countries. The meeting assumes significance as more than 40 Heads of State and Government will be participating.

Business leaders from all sectors and from all regions will be represented. Other participants include heads of NGOs and labour leaders, social entrepreneurs and young global leaders.

India will continue to be a magnet for FDI funds: Kamal Nath

Kamal NathNew Delhi, Jan 19 : Commerce Minister Kamal Nath today said that even in the current global crisis, India will continue to be a magnet for foreign direct investment
(FDI) funds.

Addressing the Partnership Summit 2009 "Trade and Investment: Focussing on Opportunities and Growth", here today, the Minister said that during April-October 20008, the FDI inflows to India stood at 18.7 billion dollars, which is more than double the inflow during the same period last year.

Nath calls for improvement in Sri Lankan investment in food processing, chemicals, textiles

Kamal NathNew Delhi, Jan 19 : Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath today emphasised that there is a scope for further improvement for FDI inflows to India, and added that top sectors in which FDI has been approved from Sri Lanka are textiles, food processing industries, telecommunication, trading, chemicals, paper and leather industries.

Need to increase trade between India and Tanzania: Kamal Nath

Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal NathNew Delhi, Jan 19 : Commerce Minister Kamal Nath today said that there is a need to increase the bilateral trade between India and Tanzania, as there is huge potential for the same.

During the bilateral interaction with the Tanzanian Minister for Industry, Trade and Marketing, Dr. Mary Nagu, Nath called for the Tanzanian investors to avail the opportunities of the favourable investment climate in India, particularly in the sectors viz., telecommunication, fibre-optics, infrastructure development and tourism.

India, the largest trade and development partner of Bhutan

Kamal NathNew Delhi, Jan 19 : Commerce Minister Kamal Nath today said that India continues to be the largest trade and development partner of Bhutan.

During the bilateral interaction with Bhutanese Minister for Economic Affairs, Khandu Wangchuk, he informed that the trade between India and Bhutan has grown significantly from a level of US$ 141.86 million in 2003-2004 to US $ 281.17 million in 2007-2008. In 2007-08, while India''s export to Bhutan was US $ 86.69 million, the imports were valued at US $ 194.48 million.

Kamal Nath to address Partnership Summit 2009 today

Commerce Minister Kamal NathNew Delhi, Jan 19 : Commerce Minister Kamal Nath will chair the Partnership Summit 2009 and deliver a special address on "Building Partnerships in a Post-Crisis World" here today.

The inaugural plenary will also be addressed by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit; Stockwell Day, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific gateway, Canada; and Peter Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprises and Regulatory Reform, UK.
