Washington, Nov. 28 : U. S. President George W. Bush phoned Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from Camp David on Thursday and offered his country’s support in investigations connected with the serial terror attacks in southern Mumbai that left 125 dead and 327 injured.
According to reports, a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) team consisting of bomb and forensic experts, has been sent from Los Angeles to help in the investigation.
New Delhi, Nov 27 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has expressed grief at the demise of the former Prime Minister V. P. Singh.
The Prime Minister said he is deeply saddened to learn about the demise of V. P. Singh. In his death India has lost a great patriot and a builder of our nation whose empathy for the weaker sections would always be etched in our national consciousness.
He further added that as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and later as the Finance Minister and the Prime Minister of India he consistently strove to translate his convictions into public policy.
New Delhi, Nov 27 : In the wake of the terror strikes in India''s financial hub Mumbai, Central cabinet held an emergency meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi to discuss security measures and the post blast actions on Thursday.
Talking to reporters after the meeting Home Minister Shivraj Patil said that the country is strong enough to defeat the designs of the militants.
New Delhi, Nov. 27 : The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Thursday strongly condemned Wednesday’s terror strikes across southern Mumbai, describing the incidents as an attempt to destablise the country.
Addressing the nation even as the firefight between security personnel and the terrorists continued in India’s commercial capital, Dr. Singh said the Mumbai attacks were “well-orchestrated” by terrorists, who had chosen high-profile targets.
He said: “These attacks are an act to destablise the nation.”
New Delhi, Nov. 27: The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, is expected to address the nation in a couple of hours from now in the wake of Wednesday's night's planned and synchronised terror strikes in Mumbai, which left at least 100 people dead and over 200 injured.
Sources in the Prime Minister's Office were quoted by NDTV as saying that Dr. Singh would address the nation, but only after it was confirmed that the operation to nab the terrorists behind the attacks was over.
