New York, Sept 24: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is scheduled to meet Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick here today on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.
Dr. Singh reached New York last night on the first leg of his 10-day visit to the United States and France.
Islamabad, Sept 24 : A formal announcement about the dates of launching cross-Line of Control (LoC) trade in Kashmir is likely to be made after today’s meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, diplomatic sources said.
“This will be high on the agenda of bilateral talks between the two leaders in their first ever meeting,” informed diplomatic sources said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh left on Tuesday for a 10-day visit to the United States and France. After a procedural halt at Frankfurt, he is scheduled to leave for New York on Tuesday for the 63rd session of the United National General Assembly (UNGA).
This will be his second address to the UN General Assembly, on Friday. He missed out the UNGA in 2006 and 2007.
Frankfurt, Sept. 23 : The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, after a night halt at Frankfurt, left for New York on Tuesday afternoon on the first leg of his ten day visit to the United States and France.
A busy schedule awaits Dr. Singh in New York. He will have bilateral meetings with the Pakistan President, the Chinese Premier tomorrow apart from having discussions with the World Bank President.
Washington, Sept 23 : Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin, who is said to be having less foreign affairs experience as compared to her Democrat rival Joe Biden, has a busy schedule on the sidelines of the ongoing UN General Assembly session in New York.
She would be meeting a host of head of states congregated for the UN session, including Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, tomorrow.
Frankfurt, Sept 23 : India should not pin much hopes on Wednesday’s meeting between Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session, says Harish Khare, Senior Editor of Indian English daily The Hindu.
He said that since Zardari was new to the office of Pakistan President, not much should be expected from the meeting.
