Kazakh President''s visit to India likely to focus on energy and food security

New Delhi, Jan. 1: With just three weeks to go before Kazakhstan''s President Nursultan Nazarbayev undertakes a four-day official visit to India (January 23 to 26), there is a great interest on the issues that will be taken up in meetings between the leaderships of the two countries.

Experts and sources familiar with Indo-Kazakh ties are of the view that the forthcoming talks between President Nazarbayev and the Indian leadership could primarily focus on energy and food security.

Unity in Asia, the key to avoiding politics of confrontation: Nazarbayev

New Delhi, Aug. 28 : The recently concluded two-day Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) saw Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev significantly dwelling on several points, the sum objective of which was to promote greater unity and association in the Asian region to ward off traditional and non-traditional security challenges.

Nazarbayev described the international community as passing through and uneasy time, which made all the more necessary for countries in the seven continents - Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America – to avoid “confrontation, resorting to heavy-handed methods and using radical rhetoric”.

Kazakh President to attend CICA meeting in Almaty

Almaty, Aug. 20 : Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev will attend the third ministerial meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) which is scheduled for August 25 in Almaty.

Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yerzhan Ashikbayev said the meeting would be held under the chairmanship of Kazakh Foreign Minister Marat Tazhin.

“Delegations of 21 CICA member-states, six observer states and three international observer organizations, namely the UN, the OSCE and the League of Arab States are expected to take part in the meeting.
