New Delhi, Jan 5 : Home Minister P Chidambaram today visited the Delhi Police headquarters to review the security scenario of the city and the functioning of the force.
Chidambaram met senior police officials, including Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal.
Dadwal is understood to have briefed Chidambaram about the strength of the force, its deployment and future plans, besides raising the issue of staff shortage.
Senior police officials also briefed him about the steps taken to improve policing in the national capital.
Delhi Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna also attended the meeting.

Guwahati, Jan 2 : Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today said that militancy will be dealt with firmly for restoration of normalcy and development in the North East.
Talking to reporters after reviewing the security scenario of Assam at a Unified Command meeting held under the chairmanship of State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in Dispur, he said, security forces have been asked to be more stern on the militants and no quarter will be given to them to escape.
The demand to deploy the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at various business establishments has increased following the recent terror attacks on the financial capital of the country.
Recently, Tatas and Oberois have approached the Union Home Ministry to get the CISF cover for additional security of their prestigious business establishments.
It is recalled that hotels of both business houses were recently attacked by the terrorists, leading to a large scale bloodshed and property loss.
Guwahati, Jan 1 : Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram will visit Assam today to review the security situation in the State.
During his visit, he will meet Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and the Unified Command to know about the present security scenario.
Issues like the establishment of a National Security Guard (NSG) hub at Guwahati, cross-border terrorism along Bangladesh boundary and strengthening of intelligence network among the North-eastern states are expected to be discussed during the meeting.
The union government gave nod to an integrated energy policy to ensure the energy security and adequate economic growth in a recent meeting of the union cabinet. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of PM Dr. Manmohan Singh.
