Govt. is committed to help weavers to meet challenges of globalisation: Vaghela

Shankarsinh VaghelaNew Delhi, Feb 17 : Union Textiles Minister Shankersinh Vaghela today said that the Government is committed to helping handloom weavers meet the challenges of globalization and modernization.

While laying the foundation stone of the "Handloom Marketing Complex" here, Vaghela said, "Our initiatives cover all aspects of production and raw material supply, design and technical assistance, training and skill up-gradation, marketing and welfare of weavers".

Shankersinh VaghelaNew Delhi, Feb 16 : Union Textiles Minister Shankersinh Vaghela will lay the foundation stone of "Handloom Marketing Complex" here tomorrow. The new marketing complex, exclusively for the handloom fabrics from various parts of India, is being set up on 1.779 acres of land at Janpath, New Delhi.

It will be built at a cost of Rs. 42.00 crores and will have double two bay basement parking space so as to provide a conducive atmosphere for shoppers.

The complex will start functioning tentatively by October 2010.

India’s Textiles Minister, Shankersinh VaghelaDubai, Aug. 30 : India’s Textiles Minister, Shankersinh Vaghela, has said that his country is keen on setting up a permanent pavilion in the United Arab Emirates to display its wide variety of handicrafts to the people of the Gulf region and western tourists.

Addressing a seminar on ''Brand Image Promotion of Indian Handicrafts'', Vaghela was quoted by Gulf News as saying that a draft plan has been drawn up to popularise the country''s exquisite handmade wares with the aid of the regional media vehicle through print and television advertisements.
