Marathwada (Maharashtra), Apr 20: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena of taking the country backward and said these parties remember Lord Rama only during elections.
Allahabad/ Faizabad, Apr 19 : Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Sunday said that the Prime Minister as well as the Congress party works according to wishes of common man.
"I want to make one thing very clear to you that our party and our
Prime Minister do not work on the order from any organisation. We work on the order of common man. We work on the wishes of people present here," Sonia Gandhi said at an election rally in Allahabad.
New Delhi, Apr 19 : The Election Commission has rejected a demand for the disqualification of Congress President Sonia Gandhi as an MP for receiving a foreign award.
Election Commissioners Navi Chawla and S. Y. Quraishi have overturned incumbent Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami's view that an enquiry is necessary to go into the complaint against Gandhi.
Sonia Gandhi received Belgium's second highest civilian honour `Order of Leopold' in November 2006.
The EC's view has been sent to President Pratibha Patil for a final decision.
Guwahati, Lucknow, Bhopal, Apr 19 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi will campaign in Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh respectively today.
During her visit, Sonia Gandhi will address election meetings at Allahabad, Faizabad and Lucknow.
Rahul is scheduled to address a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district, which will go to poll on April 23. .
Panna district comes under Khajuraho Lok Sabha seat.
Bidar (Karnataka), Apr 15 : Continuing her attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday termed him a "slave of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)".
Addressing an election rally here, Sonia Gandhi called Advani incompetent and a leader who couldn''t take decisions on his own.
"It is Advani, who is a slave of the RSS because he wants to protect his chair. This is the reason why he fulfills each and every wish of the RSS," claimed Gandhi.
Silchar (Assam), Apr 13: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani for releasing the terrorists during Kandahar hijack episode in 1999-2000.
"Even the Parliament was attacked during Advani's tenure as Union Home Minister. The BJP and other communal parties who alleged that Congress encourages division should remember that Congress has never allowed secessionist forces to thrive and will never allow it in future," Sonia Gandhi said while addressing an election rally here.
