Pipavav sings partnership deal with French firmPipavav Defence and Engineering Company (Pipavav) has said to day that it has entered into a deal with French Naval defence company DCNS in order to build various technologically advanced defense equipments.

The two firms might jointly produce modern warships for the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard. The partnership will improve the country's efforts for self-reliance in the field of defense manufacturing. It will also create number of jobs in the defense sector. Pipapav Chairman Nikhil Gandhi said DCNS and Pipavav said that the partnership will provide the country with an advanced expertise on naval ships.

"DCNS and Pipavav have decided to establish a strategic partnership... The focus of the teaming is to build the highest state-of-the-art strategic assets including modern warships for the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard," Pipavav had said in a statement.

DCNS Chairman and CEO Patrick Boissier said that the company is looking to enlarge its footprint in the country through initiative including P75 Scorpene submarines, the ongoing indigenisation programme and the DCNS India venture.

He said, "This strategic partnership will Pipavav again demonstrates DCNS's confidence in growting capabilities and long term development of Indian Defence Industries."
