Bali, Nov. 28 : President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil''s visit to Indonesia is expected to be a low-key affair in the wake of the demise of former Indian Prime Minister V. P. Singh and the deaths of over a hundred people in terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Patil arrived at Bali''s Ngurah Rai International Airport on Friday, the first day of her five-day state visit to Indonesia. Me Mangku Pastika, the Governor of Bali received her.

Indonesia is one of an important country of ASIAN with India has historical ties.

During her visit to Indonesia, President Patil would also visit Jakarta, where she will interact with the Indonesian political leadership, including President Susilo Bambang Yudhiyono, the Chairman of the Peoples'' Consultative Assembly, Dr. Hidayat Nur Wahid, the Speaker of the House of Representative, Agung Laksono and the Chairman of the Regional Representatives Council, Ginandjar Kartassmita.

The focus of the visit will be on strengthening age old bilateral ties and increasing economic relations between the two countries.

Patil will not attend cultural programs and state banquets during her visit to Indonesia.

Talking to the media, Dr. Christy Fernandez, Secretary to the President, said: “The authorities have allowed the state visit to continue. While keeping in mind the sentiments and sensitivity involved in it, we have decided there will be certain curtailment of programs like cultural programs and all such state banquets. We had sent the messages to the Indonesian authorities and they understood the sensitivity involved in it and they agreed to cooperate with us.” (ANI)
