A Q Khan issue a ‘closed chapter’: Pak FOIslamabad, Feb. 13 : Pakistan has reiterated that disgraced nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan does not pose any threat, and termed his case a `closed chapter'.

Addressing a weekly press conference here, which largely centered on US Special Envoy Richard Holbrooke's visit, Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said Khan has no access to any important facility of the country.

"We told US Special Representative Richard Holbrooke that it was a closed chapter and he (Dr Khan) has no access to any strategic facility," The Daily Times quoted Basit, as saying.

He also reiterated Islamabad's commitment towards non-proliferation.

"We are committed to non-proliferation and have put in place necessary legislative and administrative measures to ensure effective export controls and to prevent any possibility of proliferation from Pakistan," Basit said.

The official, however, put down queries about court's decision to set the nuclear scientist free from five year long house arrest.

Commenting on the Benazir Bhutto assassination probe, he said the United Nation's (UN) has agreed to set up a fact-finding commission, and Pakistani authorities are working with the world body to decide on the date for initiating the investigations. (ANI)
