Rahul Gandhi says India has done well under Manmohan Singh''s primeministershipPuducherry, Mar 25 : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday that the country has progressed a great deal under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Addressing a press conference here today, he said, "Manmohan Singh is not a weak prime minister. He has achieved a lot for the country and not buckled under terrorism."

He also praised Singh for the signing of the India-US nuclear deal and putting diplomatic pressure on Pakistan after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Speaking about the Sri Lanka based militant organisation Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), he said, "LTTE killed my father, so I am not particularly fond of it."

When asked about cousin Varun Gandhi, who is been accused of making inflammatory anti-Muslim remarks during an election meeting in Pilibhit, Rahul said, " I am surprised by his views. Life is full of surprises."

"Those are his views. I have my views. I don''t carry hate and anger with me. Hatred and anger blind you," he added.

Rahul Gandhi arrived in Puducherry today for a one-day visit.

This is Rahul''s second visit to the Union Territory, where Congress holds power, after his earlier visit to the tsunami ravaged coastal villages in 2004.
