NATO oil tankers attacked in Balochistan, driver injuredIslamabad, Dec. 29 : Unidentified miscreants attacked two NATO oil tankers injuring one of the drivers in Sibi, Balochistan on Tuesday.

According to the police, some miscreants lobbed a bomb on one the trucks parked near a road side hotel near Sibi.

The blast injured tanker’s driver Gul Badshah, but the no damage was done to the vehicle, which were on there way to Chaman from Karachi to supply the fuel to the NATO forces.

It may be noted that Chief Minister Aslam Raisani had directed the authorities to withdraw cases pending against various Baloch leaders, including Brahamdagh Bugti, Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Jamil Bugti.

Blast outside DIG office kills two in QuettaQuetta (Balochistan), Nov. 17 : At least two persons were killed and six others, including Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations (OPS) received injuries when a powerful bomb blast ripped through the Spinny road area of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, on Tuesday morning.

According to television reports, DIG Nizam Shahid Durrani and his driver were also hurt in the blast which occurred just outside his office.

Eyewitnesses said the bomb was planted in a motorcycle parked outside the DIG office building, and exploded just when the Durrani was passing by.

17 injured in two grenade attacks in QuettaQuetta (Balochistan), Nov. 8 : At least 17 people, including a student and security personnel were injured in two separate grenade attacks in different parts of Quetta, the capital of the insurgency hit Balochistan province.

According eyewitnesses, unidentified miscreants hurled hand grenades at the Government Girls’ High School located at Mannu Jan Road during school hours. The grenades landed on the rooftop of the school, injuring two teachers besides wounding a student.

The second attack took place at Meezan Chowk, a busy intersection of the city.

Announcing the formation of Council for Independent Balochistan in London, Dawood said reconciliation with Pakistan was impossible without the interference of the United Nations and the European Union.

“Independent Balochistan is our aim and objective. Therefore, we have formed a Council for Independent Balochistan,” he said.

He said the Baloch of Iran would also be given representation in the council

Citing a reason for the same, they said that they have lost their faith in conferences and committees.

Quetta, Apr 17: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has said that the Pakistan Government’s claim of holding negotiations with the rebel group are nothing but a “pack of lies.”

The BLA also said that new Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi and Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani were “fooling themselves” by offering talks.

In an interview with the Daily Times, BLA chief spokesman Bibarg Baloch said the new governor and chief minister had lied to the people by claiming to hold talks with Baloch “freedom fighters”.

Bibarg went on to say that the announcement of peace talks was a gimmick to get political mileage out of it and to support military and intelligence people.

Balochistan CM warns of civil war if missing persons are not released

Nawab Mohammad Aslam RaisaniIslamabad, Apr 10: The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mohammad Aslam Raisani, has sought the federal government’s help in securing the immediate release of ‘missing persons,’ an issue which he said was fast pushing the country towards civil war.

The Daily Times quoted Raisani as saying that the federal government must rein in intelligence agencies and release all detained ‘missing persons’.

“No state in the world terrorises its citizens, as has been happening in Pakistan,” he said.

Gas pipeline blown up in Balochistan

Bolan, Nov 9 : Unknown persons blew up 18-inch diameter gas pipeline in Bolan district of Balochistan, disrupting gas supply to Quetta and several other districts of the province, a gas company official has said.

The General Manager of Sui Southern Gas Co. in Balochistan, Mushtaq Ahmed, said that 18-inch diameter gas pipeline was blown up near Kolpur in Bolan district.

An explosion damaged several feet portion of the gas line causing disruption of gas supply to Quetta, Mastung, Qalat, Pishin and Ziarat districts, he added.

Teams have been sent to repair the damaged pipeline, he further said.

Meanwhile, an explosion near a railway track in the Bhutta area of Sibi district damaged a two and half feet portion of the track.

Blast in Balochistan kills seven

Islamabad, Oct 20 : At least seven people were killed and six others injured when a bomb exploded in a passenger wagon travelling to Sui from Dera Bugti in Pakistan's Balochistan province.

The blast occurred in a bus at Mail Bazaar area of Dera Bugti on Saturday morning, in which seven passengers were killed on the spot and six others were seriously wounded, officials said.

The officials feared that death toll might increase. Security forces cordoned off the area immediately after the incident.

It was probably a remote-controlled device that was used for explosion in the bus, The News quoted sources, as saying. (ANI)

Musharraf to start his poll campaign from Balochistan

Islamabad, Sep 23 : President Pervez Musharraf has decided to launch his presidential election campaign from Balochistan on Monday.

Sources said that Musharraf would start the campaign in Balochistan, where he would meet with the members of the national and provincial assemblies to seek their votes for his election.

At a meeting in Islamabad with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said nomination papers for Musharraf’s re-election would be submitted on September 27.
