Islamabad, Dec. 29 : Unidentified miscreants attacked two NATO oil tankers injuring one of the drivers in Sibi, Balochistan on Tuesday.

According to the police, some miscreants lobbed a bomb on one the trucks parked near a road side hotel near Sibi.

The blast injured tanker’s driver Gul Badshah, but the no damage was done to the vehicle, which were on there way to Chaman from Karachi to supply the fuel to the NATO forces.

Quetta (Balochistan), Dec. 10 : Baloch leaders have rejected the provincial government’s decision to withdraw nearly 89 cases against various nationalist leaders, terming it as a ‘cosmetic effort’ by the government to pacify the annoyed leaders.

It may be noted that Chief Minister Aslam Raisani had directed the authorities to withdraw cases pending against various Baloch leaders, including Brahamdagh Bugti, Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Jamil Bugti.

Quetta (Balochistan), Nov. 17 : At least two persons were killed and six others, including Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations (OPS) received injuries when a powerful bomb blast ripped through the Spinny road area of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, on Tuesday morning.

According to television reports, DIG Nizam Shahid Durrani and his driver were also hurt in the blast which occurred just outside his office.

Eyewitnesses said the bomb was planted in a motorcycle parked outside the DIG office building, and exploded just when the Durrani was passing by.

Quetta (Balochistan), Nov. 8 : At least 17 people, including a student and security personnel were injured in two separate grenade attacks in different parts of Quetta, the capital of the insurgency hit Balochistan province.

According eyewitnesses, unidentified miscreants hurled hand grenades at the Government Girls’ High School located at Mannu Jan Road during school hours. The grenades landed on the rooftop of the school, injuring two teachers besides wounding a student.

The second attack took place at Meezan Chowk, a busy intersection of the city.

Quetta, Aug. 12 : Khan of Kalat Suleiman Dawood has announced the formation of a council for Balochistan’s independence.

Announcing the formation of Council for Independent Balochistan in London, Dawood said reconciliation with Pakistan was impossible without the interference of the United Nations and the European Union.

“Independent Balochistan is our aim and objective. Therefore, we have formed a Council for Independent Balochistan,” he said.

He said the Baloch of Iran would also be given representation in the council

London, Aug. 7 : Terrorists claiming to represent Pakistani Balochis are planning to declare ''independence'' on August 11 this year, according to BRASSTACKS.

Though this will not change much on the ground, but these terrorists and their supporters in Kabul, New Delhi and within CIA will score a major point against Islamabad.

New Delhi, July 27 : Pakistan's claims of India interfering in Balochistan have been rubbished by visiting Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta.

Spanta is in the Indian capital to meet External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna for discussions on issues of mutual importance to the two countries. He is also expected to undergo a medical check up.

He said there was no truth to Islamabad's claims of India fuelling unrest in southwestern Balochistan province or that New Delhi was backing the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

Quetta, May 11: Pakistan-based Hindu community has expressed its reservations over construction of a dam near historic Hinglaj Mata temple in Lasbela disrict of Balochistan.

Chairman WAPDA Shakeel Durrani assured the community members that Hingol dam would be constructed only after removing all their reservations.

Karachi, Apr 29: Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi today said that the government would constitute a new inquiry tribunal into the Turbat killings which would be acceptable to Baloch nationalist parties, and underscored the need for expeditiously resolving the problems underlying the unrest in the province.

Talking to journalists, Magsi said the situation could worsen if the issues were not promptly and amicably resolved.

Islamabad, Nov 7: The Pakistan Government is learnt to be facing shortage of tents for the quake-hit people in Balochistan. But, it is going to start the distribution of whatever tents are available with it from today.

“The first consignment of 200 winterised tents has arrived from the United Kingdom and its distribution will start on Friday,” the Dawn quoted National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chairman Farooq Ahmad Khan as saying last evening.

Karachi, Apr 28: A key Baloch leader has reportedly said that there was no possibility of reconciliation on the Balochistan issue in the near future because of the growing “sense of alienation” among the Baloch people.

He also warned the new government to halt the ‘vindictive’ activities in Balochistan before a third country might take advantage of the situation.

Baloch Rabita Ittefaq Tehrik chief Prince Mohyuddin Baloch claimed that due to “ill-advised” policies of the military regime, the Balochistan issue had become an international issue and there were chances of more conflicts than reconciliation in the province.

Quetta, Apr 28: The nationalist parties of Balochistan have reportedly refused to attend the all-parties conference (APC) which PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari has called to address Balochistan’s grievances. Citing a reason for the same, they said that they have lost their faith in conferences and committees.

Like President Pervez Musharraf, the PPP apologised yesterday to the people of Balochistan for military operations and injustices in the country’s largest and the most disillusioned province.

Quetta, Apr 22 : The new Balochistan government has reportedly withdrawn all cases, including those of sedition, against detained former Balochistan chief minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

But his Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) rejected the move, describing it as a “cosmetic measure” taken by a powerless provincial government.

Quetta, Apr 17: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has said that the Pakistan Government’s claim of holding negotiations with the rebel group are nothing but a “pack of lies.”

The BLA also said that new Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi and Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani were “fooling themselves” by offering talks.

In an interview with the Daily Times, BLA chief spokesman Bibarg Baloch said the new governor and chief minister had lied to the people by claiming to hold talks with Baloch “freedom fighters”.

Bibarg went on to say that the announcement of peace talks was a gimmick to get political mileage out of it and to support military and intelligence people.

Islamabad, Apr 10: The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mohammad Aslam Raisani, has sought the federal government’s help in securing the immediate release of ‘missing persons,’ an issue which he said was fast pushing the country towards civil war.

The Daily Times quoted Raisani as saying that the federal government must rein in intelligence agencies and release all detained ‘missing persons’.

“No state in the world terrorises its citizens, as has been happening in Pakistan,” he said.

Bolan, Nov 9 : Unknown persons blew up 18-inch diameter gas pipeline in Bolan district of Balochistan, disrupting gas supply to Quetta and several other districts of the province, a gas company official has said.

The General Manager of Sui Southern Gas Co. in Balochistan, Mushtaq Ahmed, said that 18-inch diameter gas pipeline was blown up near Kolpur in Bolan district.

An explosion damaged several feet portion of the gas line causing disruption of gas supply to Quetta, Mastung, Qalat, Pishin and Ziarat districts, he added.

Teams have been sent to repair the damaged pipeline, he further said.

Meanwhile, an explosion near a railway track in the Bhutta area of Sibi district damaged a two and half feet portion of the track.

Islamabad, Oct 20 : At least seven people were killed and six others injured when a bomb exploded in a passenger wagon travelling to Sui from Dera Bugti in Pakistan's Balochistan province.

The blast occurred in a bus at Mail Bazaar area of Dera Bugti on Saturday morning, in which seven passengers were killed on the spot and six others were seriously wounded, officials said.

The officials feared that death toll might increase. Security forces cordoned off the area immediately after the incident.

It was probably a remote-controlled device that was used for explosion in the bus, The News quoted sources, as saying. (ANI)

Islamabad, Sep 23 : President Pervez Musharraf has decided to launch his presidential election campaign from Balochistan on Monday.

Sources said that Musharraf would start the campaign in Balochistan, where he would meet with the members of the national and provincial assemblies to seek their votes for his election.

At a meeting in Islamabad with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said nomination papers for Musharraf’s re-election would be submitted on September 27.
