Bangalore, March 20 - Toughening its stand against agitating employees, Toyota India has suspended 17 workers for misconduct and indiscipline four days after it declared a lockout in its twin factories near here.
"The suspended employees are all members of the union. The lockout was declared more because of indiscipline than on wage hike demand though it all began with that," Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd (TKM) spokesperson told IANS here Thursday.
Bangalore, March 18 : Agitating Toyota's workers Tuesday said they are open to lower their wage hike demand to persuade management to lift the lockout declared Sunday.
"We are open to reduce our wage hike demand to Rs. 4,000 per month from Rs. 8,000 asked earlier for fiscal 2013-14 in view of the increase in cost of living and more workload, as we want management to lift lockout immediately," Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd Union president Prasanna Kumar told IANS here Tuesday.
Bangalore, Mar. 16 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday organized a road show in Bangalore and said the people of the state are fed up with both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"The people here are fed up with both the Congress and the BJP. Both the parties have indulged in corrupt practices in the state. The people of Delhi had uprooted both these parties in the recent assembly elections. They had elected an honest government," Kejirwal said.
"Earlier, we didn't have an alternative to these two parties. But today, you have an option to choose an honest party," he added.
Bangalore, March 15 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal said Saturday the media has no guts to expose the darker side of Gujarat under the leadership of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
"Has media guts to expose Modi? They are only repeating all the lies he tells in campaign speeches about the so-called development in Gujarat," an unfazed Kejriwal told reporters here during the AAP road show underway in this tech hub.
Continuing his vicious attack on the media, especially news channels, Kejriwal said the truth about Modi's development claims was hollow.
Bangalore, March 12 : IT bellwether Wipro has entered into a strategic partnership with the US-based SGI to service its customers and partners in big data and computing, and expand its market presence in India.

Bangalore has become India's first city to receive an electric zero-emission bus. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy launched the environment-friendly Rs2.7-crore bus in the city on Thursday.
Mr. Reddy acknowledged that the electric bus is very expensive, but he stressed that it would likely prove to be a good deal in the long-term. He expressed hope that price of electric buses would likely come down in the future.

The Gujarat Chief Minister is also scheduled to hold a rally in Hubli district later in the day.
Earlier, addressing a rally in Mangalore, Modi had criticized the Congress for ruining the country and said that they were intolerant to criticism.

Bangalore, Feb 25 : Indian IT bellwether Wipro Ltd Tuesday announced it had won a 10-year multi-million dollar contract from the Britain-based leading integrated support services firm Carillion Plc.
As a global strategic partner, Wipro will provide integrated IT and back-office services to Carillion, which operates across industry verticals in Britain, West Asia and Canada, providing a range of solutions, including project finance, design, construction and support services.
Carillion also handles public-private partnership projects
Bangalore, Feb 24 : Global software major Tata Consulting Services (TCS) has been ranked number one IT service provider for the manufacturing industry in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) by leading analyst firm International Data Corporation (IDC).
"The study we conducted revealed that TCS has demonstrated an ability to deliver a range of services to European manufacturing enterprises, as also confirmed by its key clients," IDC head for manufacturing insights Pierfrancesco Manenti said in a statement here.
Bangalore, Feb 22 - Three men were arrested with 54 kg gold, valued at Rs. 16 crore, at the Kempegowda international airport here late Saturday, police said.
"We trapped the accused and seized the gold on a tipoff from Kolkata police that they were on way to Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) via Bangalore by a SpiceJet flight," Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) T. R. Suresh told IANS.
The accused are Balasubramanya, Ravi Varma and Eshwar Murthy.
Bangalore, Feb 22 : Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister M. Veerappa Moily on Saturday said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal lacks basic fundamental knowledge of the law, and added that the hike in the prices of gas was not his personal decision.
"The allegation against me is against the cabinet; it was the decision of the cabinet, not a personal decision or my own decision. The allegations against me are baseless," Moily told media here.

When a presenter of the IPL host broadcaster asked Pietersen on phone whether he felt more loved in the cricket-crazy nation after what transpired back home earlier in the month, the 33-year-old said : "Umm, I don't know... It feels that way at the moment."

"The decision to close Avishkar R&D centre is part of our global business strategy to simplify R&D footprint and focus resources on three core therapy areas of oncology, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and respiratory, inflammation and auto-immunity," the company said in a statement.
Bangalore, Jan 22 : Mines Minister Dinsha Patel dedicated the advanced light helicopter "Garuda Vasudha" to the nation here today through video-conferencing.
The helicopter was launched from the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) Complex, Bangalore. It will be with the Geological Survey of India and is equipped with a Heliborne Geophysical Survey System (HGSS)
Patel also laid the foundation stone of a Centre of Excellence Laboratory building of the GSI at its Bangalore complex at a cost of Rs. 42 crore.
Bangalore, Jan 9 : Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) chief BS Yeddyurappa is all set to make a formal comeback into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which he had deserted to form his own outfit more than a year ago.
Yeddyurappa had earlier voiced his support towards Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi becoming the prime minister and said the merge could strengthen the BJP.
The BJP forced Yeddyurappa to resign as Karnataka's Chief Minister in July 2011 after ombudsman report indicted him in the illegal mining case.
Sidelined by the BJP top leadership, he subsequently quit the party and formed KJP.
Bangalore, Dec 20 : Indian IT bellwether Infosys Ltd Friday announced changes in its board following the sudden resignation of its senior director V. Balakrishnan.
In a rejig of its board, the company's nominations and governance committee appointed Biocon Ltd chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw as an independent director and company's executive council member U. B. Pravin Rao as a full-time director.
Pravin Rao is also the company's senior vice-president and global head of its retail, consumer packaged goods, logistics and life sciences business.
