Qatar Airways All Set To Add 14 Additional Flights By Next Month

Qatar Airways, on Monday, has declared that it would raise the frequency of its daily flights from the three Indian cities including Delhi, Amritsar and Cochin by the coming month (September 2010).
Gulf-based full service air carrier stated that it will start 14 extra flights from these cities.
It added that the occurrence of the flights from these stations would be augmented in phases, starting next month.
Labour Minister asks states to help eliminate child labour

Cochin, Oct 12 : Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge has stressed on the need to eliminate child labour, a social evil still widely prevalent in the country.
Inaugurating the 29th national conference and plenary of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) here on Sunday, Kharge said that the labour law has been extended to 271 districts having high concentration of child labour.
Radhe Developers to enter leisure & hospitality business

Radhe Developers India is planning to enter into new venture of leisure & hospitality business and for the purpose the Company is making discussion to acquire a resort in Cochin.
Presently, the Company is presently engaged in the construction Sector. However, the details of acquisition of resort will be intimated as and when finalized.
Last month, Ashish Patel and Prafulbhai Patel-prompted-Radhe Developers, has announced its plan to raise Rs 500 crore through various funds raising routes from domestic and international markets.
Strike terminated by Port workers
Submitted by Malini Ranade on Mon, 05/18/2009 - 22:03.As per media reports, the offended workers of the Marine wing of the Cochin Port Trust (CPT) have withdrawn their strike; the decision taken by them after senior officials held talks with union leaders on Sunday night.
The strike was canceled by the leaders since the authority promised to restore the manpower in the marine wing for the time being. The mentioned man power was available before the implementation of the Central Industrial Tribunal Award.
Kirloskar Pneumatic bags order worth Rs 80 crore from Cochin Shipyard

Pune-based Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Limited, a part of the Kirloskar group, has bagged an order worth Rs 80 crore from Cochin Shipyard Limited for supply of Air Conditioning Plant for a prestigious ship. With this contract, the total order book for ACR & process gas division of company stands at Rs 273 crore.
Differently-abled children get a joy ride on Air India flight
Submitted by Sahil Nagpal on Mon, 12/03/2007 - 15:14.Cochin, Dec 3: Over 100 differently -abled children got a joy ride on an Air India flight named ‘Wings of Care’, which took them from Cochin to Trivandrum.
This gave them an aerial view of the Vivekanand Rock in the middle of the ocean.
The aim behind organising the joy ride for the children, who are from various schools and institutions, was to provide them with a first hand experience of travelling in a plane.
"It is like you are feeling you are with the children in the sky. So, we call it the 'Place in the Sky'. The object is basically to give these children, who have never got this opportunity, a chance to be with us and to get a first hand experience of this flight," said S.D.M. Irani, Deputy Manager of the Air India.
Cochin Port to become an e-port
Submitted by Sahil Nagpal on Sat, 10/27/2007 - 16:18.Kochi, Oct 27 : The Cochin Port Trust (CPT) has embarked on a comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation programme to be christened as 'E-Thuramukham'.
N Ramachandran, the Chairman of the CPT, recently launched 'E-Thuramukham' at a function that was attended by trade union representatives and employees.
“By implementation of E-Thuramukham, Cochin will become the first major port in India to work on a fully integrated computerised system,” said Ramachandran.
The project based on SAP platform is customized for the Cochin Port Trust by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and will be completed in of ten months, he added.
Japanese 'Peace Boat' visits Cochin

Cochin, Oct 11 : An international Japanese ship called the 'Peace Boat', which is on mission to spread peace and friendship around the world, dropped anchor off Cochin on Wednesday.
Launched by a Japan-based NGO, the ship aims to create awareness on peace, human rights, equal and sustainable development and respect for the environment.
The ship, carrying close 1,100 passengers of different nationalities, including UK, Australia and New Zealand, started its journey from Tokyo on September 23.
