Srinagar, Dec 15 : Campaigning for the sixth phase of Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir ends this evening.
16 constituencies spread over five districts of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Anantnag and Kulgam will go to polls in this phase on December 17.
While 10 assembly seats fall the Kashmir valley, six constituencies are in Jammu Division. Leaders of various political parties are criss-crossing the two regions of the state to address rallies in support of their party candidates.
The seventh phase of polls will be held on December 24.
Approximately 57 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the fifth phase on Saturday. Polling took place in eleven constituencies in the districts of Kathua, Shopian and Pulwama.

Monday is the last day for campaigning.

Of the 179 contestants, there are five women in the fray, in the three districts of Pulwama, Shopian and Kathua districts. 58 independents are also in the ring in this phase of elections.

Kathua (J-K), Dec 11 : The extended polls in Kashmir being held in seven phases have boosted the business of transporters whose vehicles are in great demand for election campaigning.
Transporters in Kathua district as elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir are a happy lot with the demand for their vehicles having grown after almost two-months long slump due to the Amarnath shrine land row.
Jammu Dec. 10 ; Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arun Jaitely today said that Pakistan is trying to befool the world community by living in a world of denial.
Speaking to reporters here ahead of the fifth round of elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Jaitely said: “When the world is watching that such a big terror attack has been carried out on the behest of Pakistani establishment, which is evident from the equipment they used and the rigorous training they have gone through, this clearly indicates that without the help of Pakistan, it is impossible.
