Siemens quits Fujitsu computing joint venture

SiemensMunich - German electronics company Siemens AG Tuesday finalized plans to quit computer producer Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

Joint venture partner Fujitsu will take over Siemens' 50-per-cent share for a price of 450 million euros (567 million dollars), the company formally announced.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers was founded in 1999 to integrate the firms9 personal computer and server businesses in Europe. The joint-venture contract was due to run out next year.

Nikkei recovers to 9,000 levelTokyo - Tokyo stocks ended Tuesday trading higher with the benchmark Nikkei index rising above 9,000 level as the market confidence was regained on a series of economic stimulus packages and the Asian stock market's advance the previous day.

The Nikkei 225 Stock Average surged 537.62 points, or 6.27 per cent, to close at 9,114.6. The index had lost 5 per cent Friday. The Tokyo market was closed Monday for a national holiday.

The broader Topix index of all first-section issues also gained 43.58 points, or 5.02 per cent, to 910.7.

Manjhi and Yamada left from Jaipur in the afternoon for New Delhi from where they''ll board an Air India flight to Japan with a one-year visa, which would be renewed later.

Fujitsu acquires Siemens' stake in computing joint venture Tokyo  - Japanese electronics concern Fujitsu is to take over full control of the Fujitsu Siemens Computers joint venture, according to Japanese media reports on Saturday.

Fujitsu and Munich-based Siemens AG had owned 50 per cent each of the computing firm, which was established in 1999.

Fujitsu is to make Siemens' share of the firm its own subsidiary, according to well-informed sources speaking to the Japanese business paper Nikkei.
