London, Nov 14: In a breakthrough study, Spanish scientists have created a genetically modified ‘supermice’ that can resist cancer and which age almost half as fast as other mice.

The research team from Valencia University modified the genes of the mice to make them resistant to cancer and slow down aging by increasing the amount of a particular protein called telomerase.

The protein helps cells to regenerate, allowing them to stay younger for longer.

Previous studies had shown that attempts to increase the amount of the protein in mice made them more vulnerable to cancer.

In the new study, the researchers modified the genes of the mice in such away that made it resistant to the disease.

If reports are to be believed, the ‘Blur’ legends Damon and Graham have finally buried the hatchet, as the two were pictured together for the 1st time after Graham left the band in 2002 at the London premiere of Damon’s spectacular opera, Monkey: Journey To The West on Wednesday night.

While at the premiere, Damon revealed he’s keen to perform huge and high profile gigs again.

London, Nov 14: The Taliban have reportedly dubbed the recent executions of nine death row prisoners as “barbaric”, and made appeals to the UN, the EU, the Red Cross and human rights groups to ask the Hamid Karzai administration to abstain from such moves in future.

The nine criminals executed were involved in crimes like child molesting, kidnap, murder and insurgent attacks.

According to The Telegraph, a statement posted on a website, purportedly coming from the organisation''s leadership council, raised concerns about fair trials.

London, Nov 14: The man accused of raping and murdering 17-year-old British girl Hannah Foster has said that he was kidnapped, bound, blindfolded and forced to have sex with the teenager.

Maninder Pal Singh Kohli, 41, told the jury that on the night Hannah went missing near Southampton, in 2003, he was bundled into a car by three men before being forced to have sex with a woman he now believes was Hannah.

Kohli portrayed himself as a victim of revenge, saying a colleague to whom he owed 16,000 pound targeted him.

London, Nov 14: New York Senator Hillary Clinton is being considered to serve as Secretary of State in the President elect Barack Obama’s Administration, according to reports.

Two unnamed advisers to Obama told NBC News that the former first lady was in the running for the job, Telegraph reported.

Clinton fought a bitter battle with Obama for the Democrat nomination, however the pair later put their differences aside to campaign together against the Republican candidate John McCain.

London - More than 100 men and women clad just in their underpants trooped on to the concourse of a central London train station Thursday hoping to set a new world record for a bizarre gathering of this kind.

The effort, entitled Pants to Poverty, was organized by the Fair Trade Organization to mark Guinness World Records Day.

A total of 116 men and women turned up for the event on a cold and rainy day at St Pancras train station in London, from where the Eurostar train also departs.
