London - Unemployment in Britain rose to 5.5 per cent in the three months between May and July, reaching its highest level in almost a decade, figures released Wednesday showed.

London, Sept 17 : The author of Brokeback Mountain, Annie Proulx has claimed that the book, which was turned into the Oscar-winning movie, is now a “source of constant irritation” in her life.

The 76-year-old writer said that she gets flooded with “pornish” letters sent by fans of the book.

The book, published in 1999, traces the story of two cowboys and their illicit homosexual passions in America’s conservative Midwest.

While the book was praised for its delicate handling of homophobia, it also received criticism by many, who felt Proulx could have gone further in describing the love shared between the two main characters.
