Balasore (Orissa), May 29 : As plastic toys continue to flood the market, a group of 60 women in Orissa’s Balasore District are working hard to preserve the traditional art of making lac toys.

While informing the chief district medical officer (CDMO) of Sambalpur, Dr. PK Nayak said, “This is totally a new concept all over the country started for the first time at Sambalpur.”

Bhubaneshwar, May 23 : A mine workers’ group ‘Birsa Sangram Samiti’ staged a demonstration today in Orissa’s Sundergarh District demanding the reopening of the closed dolomite and limestone mines that had left them jobless.
The mines set up in the year 1960 provided jobs to locals, but made them jobless after 1990.
