Royal Mail to meet its delivery target
UK's mailing service Royal Mail has indicated that it is likely to meet its delivery targets in the first half of the current financial year.
The mailing service said that it was able to deliver 93.2 per cent of first class post the next working day compared to a target of 93 per cent. On the other hand, it delivered 98.5 per cent of the second class mails on time, which is 0.3 per cent below target. Ofcom has warned that the mailing service might be fined for delays in delivery.
Ofcom has warned UK's mailing service Royal Mail that it should improve its service indicating that it might face fines for missed performance targets. The regulator said that postal service, which was recently privatised, missed its requirement of delivering 93 per cent of all first-class letters on the day after collection. The figure was recorded at the level of only 91.7 per cent. The Royal Mail is also required to meet a target of 91.5 per cent of next-day delivery for first-class post in almost all of the UK's geographic postcode areas, according to the regulator.
The regulator said that the requirements have to be met in order to provide acceptable service across the country. However, the mailing service achieved only 62 per cent of the required postcode areas during the year to March 2013.
