Celebrity gossip website Holy Moly has published a top 40 of the most narcissistic celebrities on Twitter, a list that includes Lily Allen, Chris Moyles and Stephen Fry.

The site found that Brand has 143,548 fans following his regular updates of his antics. But the 33-year-old is only interested in 14 fellow Twitterers enough to bother following their progress, reports The Telegraph.

Brand tops Holy Moly''s ''Celebrity Twitter Narcissm Rating'' with 99.9902 per cent.

The Smile Singer has 101,500 followers but is tracking just 10 people.

Third in the league was DJ Chris Moyle, who has 106,013 followers but is following just 13 people. His rating is 99.9877 per cent.

TV presenters Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton were fourth and fifth with ratings of 99.9819 per cent and 99.9760 per cent respectively.

Next came celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, TV presenter Andi Peters, comic Eddie Izzard and DJ Richard Bacon.

Katie Price was 15th and chat show host Jonathan Ross was 20th with 98.3580.

Holy Moly said of its findings: "Twitter is supposed to be interactive. The very nature of its success is based on one person talking to another.

"What it is not is a forum for celebrities to use as a ready-made fan site. The service has very quickly become a very easy, cheap way for celebrities to have their ego stroked so they can bask in the glory of their popularity.

"Some celebrities are brilliant but the majority are completely and utterly self-obsessed." (ANI)
