London, Dec 7 : Controversial comic Russell Brand has won the best live stand-up comedian at the British Comedy Awards last night.
The former BBC host, who quit his Radio 2 show in the wake of the Andrew Sachs prank calls scandal, accepted the award to ecstatic applause, reports BBC.
Accepting his award from Adam Sandler in Los Angeles, Brand said: "I would like to dedicate this award to Jonathan Ross."
He continued: "There are no comedy awards without Jonathan Ross, he is the king-maker."
Brand, who is now pursuing his Hollywood movie career, asked Sandler if he would like to do a radio show – to huge laughter.
The award show was hosted at the London Television Studios. (ANI)
