Scientists from ISRO, NASA, ESA to decode moon mission data

ChandrayaanScientists from the Indian Space Research Organization have started decoding data from the Chandrayaan-1 mission to release it by the end of 2009 or early 2010.

Scientists from National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the European Space Agency are assisting ISRO in decoding the compiled data about Moon.

The data received from the Chandrayaan-1 will be converted into international standard format i. e. standard planetary data system format with the help of the conversion software.

It was informed that those nations which had their scientific instruments on the Chandrayaan I spacecraft will access the data gathered by their respective instruments first.

Scientists will be able to study about 2-dozen solar flares captured by the scientific instruments on the Chandrayaan I. ESA's x-ray Solar Monitor has captured the Sun x-ray emission.

Strong solar flares can manipulate the accuracy of GPS navigation systems plus knock out power-grids on Earth.
