Sensex Opens On A Flat Note; Hindalco, RIL Up
Indian stock markets continued its positive run during morning trade for the second day today.
Both the 30-share index Sensex and the broad-based Nifty were trading above 24-month peak.
Today, the Sensex belled the day on a flat note after gaining 1.22 points at 20,544.30, while the Nifty commenced after declining 35.50 points at 6,150.95.
At 9.01. am, the BSE Sensex gained 23.65 points at 20,566.73, while Nifty remained up by 3.95 points to trade at 6,190.40.
The top gainers in the 30-share index comprised Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, which surged 0.65%, Bharti Airtel gained 0.64%, Hindalco Industries grew 0.59%, Reliance Industries climbed 0.45%, Tata Motors zoomed 0.39%, and Tata Power Company remained up by 0.39%.
In contrast, the top losers' list comprised Housing Development Finance Corporation, which slipped 1.25%, JP Associates declined 0.69%, Infosys Technologies dropped 0.50%, Wipro shed 0.39%, TCS lost 0.28%, and Larsen & Toubro was down by 0.26%.
The overall stock market breadth remained positive with 808 progressions as compared to 278 declinations.
On the value chart, Pipavav Shipyard led the value chart with a total turnover of Rs 660.48 million.
It was accompanied by Career Point Infosystems, VIP Ind and Sujana Towers.
