According to recent reports, seven more fatalities in recent days in three states have taken the Indian death toll because of deadly H1N1 flu thus far to 1221.
Out of seven casualties, four have been reported from Gujarat, two from Maharashtra and one from Madhya Pradesh, the state authorities to the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare stated.
The total number of demises also comprised four deaths, - three in Gujarat and one in Maharashtra, informed yesterday when the health ministry did not publish its daily report.
Of the total H1N1 fatalities in India up till now, Maharashtra reported 315 followed by Gujarat, which reported 230 deaths, Rajasthan (176), Karnataka (141), Delhi (93), Andhra Pradesh (52), Punjab (38), Kerala (36), Haryana (33), Madhya Pradesh (22), Uttar Pradesh (18), Uttarakhand (13), Chandigarh (8), Himachal Pradesh (8), Tamil Nadu (7), Chhattisgarh (6), Puducherry (6), Goa (5), J&K (4), Orissa (3), Assam (2) and 1 each in Mizoram and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
The report said 13 new swine flu cases were reported from varios regions across India comprising 8 in Gujarat, 2 in Rajasthan and 1 each in Karnataka, Orissa and Uttar Pradesh.
With the addition of new H1N1 cases, the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases of the fatal flu in India so far surged to 28,596.
