Sonia to address tribals rally in Rajasthan today

Congress President Sonia GandhiDungarpur (Rajasthan), Apr 3: Congress President Sonia Gandhi will address a tribals rally in Dungarpur district of Rajasthan. The rally is seen as the beginning of the poll campaign in the poll bound state.

The state goes to polls later this year, sometime around October-November.

During her visit, Sonia will meet tribals, especially women, who have been given jobs under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).

Sonia’s visit is also considered crucial, as this is her first trip to any tribal area after the passage of the Tribal Rights Bill by the UPA Government. The visit will highlight the UPA Government’s new initiatives on rural employment guarantee, tribal rights and old age pension.

Last year, in August, Sonia visited Kawas and Malwa towns in Barmer district to provide relief to the victims of floods there. (ANI)
