Spurious liquor racket busted

The Pune rural police on Monday afternoon busted a racket involving processing and packing of spurious liquor in Narayangaon. The police recovered a vehicle and spurious liquor worth Rs6 lakh.

A team headed by police inspector Bhausaheb Andhalkar raided the bottling unit and arrested Balasaheb Bhujbal (38) and Mangesh Naik (29), both residents of Narayangaon.

Andhalkar said that the suspects used to purchase low quality scotch whisky from Daman. The suspects used to transfer this liquor into the bottles of reputed brands. The suspects allegedly purchased bottle caps and labels from a merchant based in Thane.
