Students go on a rampage in Ajmer

A number of agitated students and their parents gathered at the building of Central Academy School in Ajmer and staged a protest on Monday. The angry students and their parents also damaged parts of the school building situated in Christian Ganj police station area in Ajmer and allegedly set a school bus on fire.

The parents were agitated over the fact that the school management had claimed that the institute is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), but they were unable to acquire the affiliation till date, alleged Suresh Kumar Tak, a parent.
Meanwhile , the police have arrested Shobha Suman Mishra, the director of Central Academy School, on charges of cheating and breach of trust. An FIR has been lodged by Tak against Mishra, the police said.

The school management has also filed a complaint against Monday's incident, the police added. However, the parents have alleged that the school management set the bus on fire on their own and have blamed them.
Tak has lodged an FIR against the school management for cheating under Section 420 of the IPC and breach of trust (Section 406 of the IPC), said Kailash Dan Ratnu, Kotwali circle officer.

Divulging facts about the incident to DNA, Rahul Dev, a parent said, the CBSE examination dates have already been announced and it would start from March 4. There are 45 students in the high school level. "Irrespective of their claims that the school is affiliated to the CBSE and with only a few days left for the exams, the school management had asked the students to fill up the examination forms for National Institute of Open Schooling," he added.
When the parents contacted the school management, the latter could not provide a satisfactory answer, said an aggrieved parent.
"On the contrary, they bluntly asked us to take back the fees," he added. The aggrieved parents pleaded and asked the management as to how would the school compensate for the loss of one year to students?
After attempts to solve the issue amicably, dispute between the management and parents continued for a few days, said the police.

Despite a holiday on the occasion of Maha Shivratri on Monday, a number of students and their parents gathered at the premises and shouted slogans against the school management. The crowd also resorted to stone-pelting and damaged the director's chamber.
