Taiwan EVA Air's MD-90 bursts three tyres

Taipei  - An MD-90 jet of Taiwan's EVA Air burst three tyres Tuesday morning while on a domestic flight, but landed safety at the Kaohsiung International Airport.

The incident occurred when the MD-90 was carrying 36 passengers from the Taoyuan International Airport near Taipei to the Kaohsiung International Airport in southern Taiwan.

Shortly after it had taken off from the Taoyuan airport one tyre burst. When it was landing at the Kaohsiung airport, two other tyres also burst, but all the passengers and crew were safe.

The Kaohsiung airport was closed for a few hours because of the incident.

The Civil Aeronautics Administration has launched an investigation into the MD-90's tyre bursts. (dpa)
