Talks for separate State for Gorkhas on May 22

Kolkata, May 21 : The leaders of the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) would meet West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on May 22 to discuss about a separate State for Gorkhas comprising Darjeeling, Terai, Dooars and Siliguri.

"We have received the Chief Minister's invitation for talks through the District Magistrate of Darjeeling," Rajesh Pandey, GJM General Secretary Roshan Giri said.

A four-member GJM delegation comprising, Vice President Pradip Pradhan and two central committee members Amar Lama and Anmol Prasad would attend the meeting.

The GJM has been demanding a separate state of Gorkhaland for a long time.

"In this meeting we will submit the proposed map of Gorkhaland to the Chief Minister and urge him to raise a bill in the State Assembly and send it to the Centre after formally passing and recommending it", Giri said. (ANI)
